No, absolutely not! It doesn’t matter if you’ve never danced before, Zumba is for everyone and the steps are taught in such a way that you can work at your own pace and gradually gain a knowledge of the core steps. You will need to complete a quick registration form if it’s your first Zumba class with Go Zumba UK.
I’m a beginner – do you have a beginner’s class?
All of our classes are suitable for beginners, and new students start each week so in no time at all you will be a Zumba expert! The Zumba gold class is a low impact class but all classes can be tailored to suit your own abilities.
We welcome young adults to class as long as they are able to fully participate and are accompanied by an adult taking part in a class. Classes for young people aged 14 years and under are £2.50, for teens aged 15 years and above the normal rate of £5 applies or you can use your class pass. Younger children are welcome as long as they are able to participate sensibly.
I am unable to attend the same classes each week due to work – will I miss something?
No, the great thing about Zumba is that there is no set ‘course’ of lessons so you can pick up where you left off if you’ve been on holiday for example. New dances are introduced regularly to keep things interesting but there will be some dances that are kept the same so everyone will still know at least a few of the dances. You can pick and choose whichever class is most convenient for you throughout the week and get your Zumba fix whenever is best for you.
Do I need a partner?
No partner is required, but if you’d like to bring some friends or family along that’s great – the more the merrier. If you’re coming along on your own, don’t worry you will soon leave with Zumba friends!
Do I need to pre-book?
I an delighted that all of our classes are pay as you go for your convenience – just turn up about 10 minutes before! Don’t forget if it’s your first class with Go Zumba UK then you will need to register before the class so please ensure you ask for a form when start with us.
Is there a stage so I can see?
Yes, all of our venues have a stage for the instructor(s) so you always get a clear view of all the moves!
Where can I park?
All of our venues have either a free well-lit car park on-site or access to free parking nearby.
What do I need to bring?
Bring a drink, a small gym towel (if required) and a smile 🙂
What should I wear?
Firstly, Zumba is not a fashion competition although we love bright colours! Wear light-weight, breathable clothing such as leggings, joggers, cargos, t-shirts and vests. We also sell Zumba wear at class from time to time at discounted rates but it’s also available at www.zumba.com. Do wear a good sports bra as we do a lot of shimmying and shaking (women only!) :
What’s the best footwear for Zumba?
The best footwear is a lightweight trainer or dap with some cushioning support and minimal tread on the sole, some trainers even have a turning spot on the ball of the foot. Barefoot is not recommended. Some examples of good Zumba shoes are Addidas workout Cross or Lo, Nike Shox or Puma Wylie Mesh or a specific dance trainer which most brands seem to stock these days.
How many Zumba classes do you recommend to help me lose weight?
Two Zumba classes a week is a great way to kick start any fitness plan and you should see real results provided you are following a healthy eating plan in conjunction with the classes. Of course, if you can only attend one class each week or want to attend more than two classes that’s absolutely fine!
Can I still attend if I have a medical condition?
If you have any medical condition or are pregnant please ensure you have permission from your doctor before commencing any fitness program and enter this on your registration form. Please let your instructor know about any conditions so she can advise and help you to modify the moves to suit.
I have a disability – can I attend a Zumba class?
