Zumba Instructor Convention, Lille, France, 2013

What an amazing weekend in Lille!! Three jam-packed days of learning, dancing and bonding with ZIN Members from every corner of the globe. We trained and partied and experienced a lot of new music, new moves and new flavours to bring back to class. It was exhausting but worth every second and the energy from over 2,000 instructors was electric!

40 million people take Zumba classes every week and we experienced masterclasses, workshops, jamming sessions as well as a Zumba concert and Masquerade party. We learnt about Bhangra, Bollywood and other Indian fusion rhythms blended with Latin music and Zumba moves. We flirted our way around chairs in the Burlesque class (they wore heels!). And learnt crazy new Salsa and Merengue steps in 2 hours of a non-stop medley of latin tracks.

Our basic French (learnt at School) came in handy with ordering food and drink – we didn’t always get what we thought we’d ordered but there were no disasters!  We sampled some amazing pastries for breakfast but worked them off with nearly 14 hours of dancing over the weekend.  Overall it was a brilliant experience and showed us the power of Zumba® to help you get in shape, feel amazing and relate to people (even when you don’t speak the same language)!
